Ron and Laura took our ideas and work through not only second story layouts, but alternatives in the basement layout that might achieve our needs as well. In the end, the second story worked best, and the final design is better than we ever could have imagined... Laura is the ultimate project manager.  Our project required a variance with the City of Minneapolis.  Laura was amazing in dealing with the issues with the city, and actually recommended that we expand our remodel from our original intentions.  The recommendation from Laura expanded the square footage of our addition at minimal cost to us.

Thank you so much for all your hard work and vision on completing the renovation of our house. You started the process of making it our home, something we are continuing to do. We loved your attention to detail, your thoughtful suggestions, and your patience with us (and the small ones!), your hardworking tradespeople, and above all the care with which you made this all happen! Orfield did a complete remodel of my basement bathroom removing a sump pump and installing a new toilet, vanity and shower. I love the tiling on the floor and in the shower. It always costs more than you would expect but Orfield does quality work. This is the third job they have done for me. Previously I had a family room added to the basement with an egressed window and the staircase was opened up. It no longer feels like a basement. Also, they did a complete kitchen remodel with a wall bump-out. I will have them back to remodel my upstairs bathroom soon. I can always count on them to provide quality work which lasts.

The client wanted a clean and fresh outlook brought to this split level rambler’s bathroom. As a single mother with a young child she wanted this bathroom to reflect a playfulness that youth brings with an adult contemporary edge.

Working with Laura was a pleasure as she explained each step of the remodel in terms I could understand and relate to. I felt I was kept informed throughout the project with phone conversations, email and one-on-one meetings. The initial walk through was made easier with Laura being there to explain each piece of the job and what to expect. She didn’t force me to make a decision I didn’t want or like. We are extremely happy about our experience with Orfield Design. We asked 3 contractors for bids on our remodeling half the basement. Not only was Orfield's bid the low one and very nicely detailed, but they were the only contractor expressing optimism and a commitment to meeting a tight deadline of 6 weeks. Laura and Amy worked with us from the start to help us figure out details and get what we wanted. Once the work began, Laura coordinated the work well, sometimes getting three trades at the site at the same time without folks getting in each others way. The subcontractors did good jobs. The few shortcomings we pointed out along the way were quickly fixed with no hassle. Changes to the plan were credited or up charged in writing in a very clear and timely manner. We have had numerous compliments on the work that came out of Amy s design. Optimism for timely completion was accomplished. We had a nice new place for out-of-town visitors to stay when our new grandson was born!

As (we) have been admiring the cabinetry over the last two days, we wanted to personally let you know how much we appreciate the craftsmanship of you/your team.  I know Matt worked on the stain, which looks beautiful!  Matt and Troy did a fantastic job on the installing of the cabinets, which wasn't an easy task, and they are wonderful people!  That means a lot to us!  As (we) discussed, the quality was worth the wait!!!  We wish you continued success with your company!  Perhaps our paths will cross again on a future home project. The fireplace and marble are exquisite and finish off the bedroom to perfection. That space is so beautifully designed, the feel of it is just what I’d been hoping for - spacious, tree-house, and cozy too. I feel like a princess!”

Orfield was highly organized and professional throughout the project. We were very pleased with their work. This is the largest project that we’ve done, and it went the smoothest. Orfield was extremely detailed and organized. We always knew what was going on and what the costs were before any work was done. They had wonderful design and layout ideas that have transformed our home. We love it!

Thank you for making our kitchen remodel turn out so successfully! Everyone was a pleasure to work with and the final product is everything we wanted it to be!

They (Orfield) were very confident in getting the project finished in the short time frame that we had. They were always on time during the process. Communication was always open and was positive.

When we removed the end wall at the old kitchen (area of new pantry facing kitchen) we found that the ceiling trusses did not carry the load from exterior wall to exterior wall across the home, as is usually standard in ramblers. The roof trusses were cut off and then we had to structurally engineer a beam to support roof beams spanning the home, install and bury in ceiling, from corner of old kitchen to exterior wall to support roof truss loads down to foundation.

The company did an excellent job. They stuck to the timeline and in fact, finished one week early. All the trades people were master craftsmen, had great suggestions, and did beautiful work. We are very happy with the results.

We had been discussing this major house renovation for 6 years, but were unable to agree on a plan. Orfield was able to come in and suggest designs that enabled us to quickly settle on a design everyone was happy with. I was continually impressed with Orfield’s professionalism and responsiveness. In any project this large, there are the inevitable surprises. Orfield was very attentive and we always worked out any issues that left everyone pleased with the result. In addition, they were very willing to work with us on incorporating our owner-supplied elements (cabinets, fixtures, windows). They kept us informed of progress and schedules. All in all we were very pleased and would work with them again.

It was really great to see you (Laura) and Ron again; your presence brought back lots of good feelings with us as well, not only because you are wonderful to work with, but also because you all did such a great job with our basement 4 1/2 years ago. We had a few contractors come by to give estimates, and we are feeling pretty confident that we would like to work with Orfield again.

We are so thrilled to have K home and grateful that she’s been healthy and doing well. We were definitely not expecting her to arrive two months early, so we feel very fortunate to be ready for her with our new kitchen and addition! I don’t know how we would have managed in that old, outdated space!

Orfield Design and Construction did a marvelous job of turning our kitchen into something that was not only beautiful, but also very functional and caters to our needs beautifully.  Everything is great– the cabinets, the skylight, the island, the breakfast nook with its lift-up storage benches.... it all works really well and maneuvering around the kitchen has been very easy.  Our family lives in this kitchen.

Orfield was great to work with!
